Teaching Experience & Philosophy
Philosophy of Music Education
I believe that every student deserves the opportunity to learn in an environment that encourages growth, enjoyment, and discovery. I want to be an educator who uses a positive musical environment to bring people together through a common interest, and help students grow as musicians and as people. Music is an art that appeals to something deeper than just knowledge, and I believe that it can be a catalyst for building leadership skills, confidence, understanding, and compassion for others. Music can be used to shape our future through the children who will be the future, and I want to make sure I prepare them to be able to reach their goals and be the positive change we want to see in the world. If music education is approached from this perspective, it becomes quite clear that the old adage becomes quite true: "We must first be a teacher of people, then of music."
